Guidelines for Research Article Submission

The Journal for Business Education and Management (JBEM) has meticulously outlined a set of guidelines and procedures for the submission of research articles, ensuring a smooth and rigorous evaluation process:

  1. Anonymous Manuscript Submission: All manuscripts must be submitted without author or institutional information to maintain a fair and unbiased review process. This ensures a blind review process where the reviewers evaluate the content without knowing the author's identity.

  2. Separate Title Page for Author Details: Author and institutional information should be submitted separately on the title page. This separation helps maintain the anonymity of the authors during the initial review stages.

  3. Author Agreement Form: Along with the manuscript and title page, authors must submit an Author Agreement Form. This form signifies the author's commitment to the authenticity and originality of the submitted work.

  4. Originality Requirement: Submitted manuscripts must be entirely original and should not have been previously published or presented elsewhere. This ensures the integrity and novelty of the research published in JBEM.

  5. Manuscript Length and Formatting: Articles submitted to JBEM should ideally fall within the 4,000 to 6,000 words range. Authors are expected to adhere to the APA referencing style for citations and references. Additionally, manuscripts should include clear and appropriately labeled tables and illustrations to enhance readability.

  6. Limit on Contributors: A maximum of three contributors are allowed for each article. This limitation ensures that authorship remains focused and contributions are clearly defined.

  7. Illustrations and Tables: Original drawings submitted for publication should be in a format ready for printing. Each illustration should be numbered, accompanied by the author's name, and include the paper's title. Tables should be well-structured, easily readable, and appropriately labeled, with the data source at the bottom.

  8. Loanword Citation: Proper citation of loanwords accepted in English usage is mandatory, aligning with established language conventions.

  9. Anti-Plagiarism Check: All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous anti-plagiarism check using Turnitin. JBEM adheres to a maximum similarity index of 19%, in line with the mandatory conditions set by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

  10. Editorial Screening: Upon submission, the Editor or editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess whether the manuscript aligns with the journal's scope and objectives. Manuscripts that meet the criteria proceed to the next stage.

  11. Double-Blind Peer Review: Accepted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process, wherein external reviewers assess the research for its scientific significance, methodological rigor, and adherence to ethical standards. The reviewers' responses and recommendations are shared with the corresponding author.

  12. Revisions and Approval: Authors may request revisions based on the reviewers' feedback. The corresponding author can incorporate these revisions and resubmit the manuscript for further evaluation.

  13. Withdrawal Policy: Once a research paper has undergone review, it cannot be withdrawn unless there are compelling reasons. In such cases, withdrawal requests are considered upon editorial approval.

Peer-Review Policy

JBEM employs a double-blind peer-review policy, ensuring the objectivity and quality of published articles. Reviewers evaluate articles without knowledge of the authors' identities.

Originality and Plagiarism Policy

JBEM only publishes original research and adheres to a policy allowing a less than 19% similarity index under the guidelines of HEC Pakistan.

The Editor of JBEM communicates any required corrections or revisions to authors after initial screening and final review by the Editorial Board members and reviewers.

Authors are required to provide details of each author's contributions on the title page, submitted separately. Additionally, authors must submit a consent form, signed by all authors, accompanying the manuscript.

Deadlines for All Processes

JBEM accepts research papers throughout the year with no specific submission deadlines.

Reviewing and Editing

JBEM follows a double-blind peer-review process, with manuscripts evaluated by independent referees/reviewers and Editorial Board members. Reviewers assess the scientific significance, novelty, and compliance with publication ethics. After reviews, manuscripts may be accepted, returned for revisions, or rejected.

The author is responsible for the manuscript's content, and editors may request clarifications or technical details as needed. Scientific editing ensures the manuscript adheres to editorial policy.

Acceptance of Articles and Publication

The acceptance and publication of articles are at the discretion of the Editor. Decisions are based on review reports.

Timelines of Publication

JBEM releases two issues annually, the first on June 30th and the second on December 31st. The review process takes approximately one month (4 weeks) from submission. Articles received within four weeks of the current issue's release are published next.

Steps from Receipt of Research Article to Publication

The process from receiving a research article to publication involves the following steps:

  1. Authors submit complete manuscripts without author or institutional details but include a separate title page with author and affiliation information and an Author Agreement Form.

  2. The Editor/Manager assigns an anonymous editor from the editorial board for desk review.

  3. After desk review, the editor sends the article for review by two reviewers, including national/international experts.

  4. Editors make the final decision based on reviews, with articles accepted for publication or sent for revision.

  5. Copy editing ensures the manuscript is polished and correctly formatted.

  6. Once copyediting is complete, the article is prepared for production and publication. A PDF version, including the abstract and author affiliations, is attached to the Open Journal System.

Article-Processing and Publication Fee

JBEM charges PKR 30,000 for Article Processing.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

JBEM follows strict policies on conflicts of interest. Participants in the research and publication process must disclose any financial or other conflicts that may influence their actions or results. This information is used for editorial decisions.
